Margaret Lehmann
Founder
Whilst not growing up in the Barossa, Margaret Lehmann is as close to a Barossan as you will find.
With a passion for education and learning, Margaret began her career as a high school teacher and librarian at the University of Adelaide. Whilst working at the University, Margaret became interested in tasting wine and through her university friends met Peter Lehmann and instantly fell for both the man and his home, the Barossa.
After marrying Peter in 1970 and starting a family soon after, Margaret took to Barossa life with great gusto immersing herself into local committees and championing many great causes that have helped preserve the Barossa as we know today.
With stints on the Barossa Council, Food Barossa and many others, Margaret has been an inspiration too many people, but one of her proudest achievements is the partnership both personally and professionally between Peter and herself.
After nearly 40 years living together in the Barossa, and although professionally retired , Margaret’s conviction and passion for both Peter Lehmann Wines and her beloved Barossa always remains at the forefront of her mind.
With a welcoming kitchen and a glass of Semillon, Margaret is the great Barossa lady beside the great Barossa man.
